Over and Out...
The season of SG ended this past Tuesday with a bottle rocket bang. There were only about 13 riders out, and by the end, just 6 or 7 rolled by Wentworths. A couple of riders got popped in the opening miles. Steffen Huber went straight, instead of turning on Mountain Rd. Then later Alan B broke a spoke in the industrial park. Alan got in a couple of attacks before that happened, and along with Hunter P and Chris C, were the main instigators of the ride. Hunter P tried getting away before the light on Rt 68\70, then towards the end of Moss Farms, then again with Chris C before the industrial park.
Those two, along with Ben Bruce tried getting away at the end of East Johnson Ave, but it was all together before "the climb" on Rt 70. Hunter P set down a pace that only Chris C, Mike McG and Ben Bruce were able to hold. Ben rolled thru the Hickory Hill sprint point and then the pace slowed down enough for the remaining riders to regroup.
The group stayed together until Hunter P attacked hard up the rise by Boulder Knoll. He split off a gap with Ben Bruce and Chris C, and then attacked solo going onto Tuttle. It was back together again for the run-in to the finish though. While the final 500m was fast, only Ben Bruce was game for sprinting into the darkness. He collects enough points (2 x 5) to draw to within 3 points of Little T and the podium for the year.
It was certainly an interesting, if not slightly dull year for the ride.Keep up the great work everyone.
NEXT UP: The soon-to-start Sunday rides, and DO NOT FORGET about the annual Sleeping Giant Ride kegger, better known as Cheshire CX, on November 3rd.

Another Successful Day For the Breakaway Boys
The ride started out wet today and henceward, slow. The pace was edemic for the first 4 or 5 min. Special Ed took off early on, and then Chris C had a flyer that looked like it could grow some legs but he was getting corraled by the turn onto Mountain Rd. The pack slowly came awake as everyone got used to the road spray. Hunter P jumped hard halfway down Mountain Rd but he would also be brought back by the ever faster group.
On Moss Farms, Hunter P attacked again towards the end. This time, getting a gap with Chris C. The reponse behind was steady, but not that some legs were getting a bit tired, gaps started opening up as everyone cautionsly made their way thru the Chicane. It was mostly all together heading up to Marion but Little T and Greg Ciocci took to the front and drilled it up the hill there. Hunter P took over once past the corner and only MJ Alio (Top 10 Mount Washington Finisher) was able to match the pace. Those 2 kept on the gas double time and had a decent gap by the corner for the industrial park.
The gap didn't stop Ben Bruce from charging across and making it a trio that had maybe 6 or 7 seconds turning into the Industrial Park. The leaders stayed on it, with MJ taking strong pulls, Hunter P and Ben Bruce working the well-known corners and hills. The gap held all the way up to the light on route 10 (the Short Loop ride skipped te old right hand turn onto Reinhard in favor of crossing route 10, as has been the practice for the last couple months).
The breakaway got the light, with Ben Bruce just squeezing through a yellow. The pack was held up a few moments later. The break would need only a fraction of that red light time to stay out for good. The trio stayed together for the rest of the ride and for the second week in a row, the pack plays second fiddle.
The new loop continues to add a bit of drama and loads of challenge to the ride!

Where's Burggie Baby???
The ride is time saving mode from here on out, and it was decided to turn down Prospect (the goats) once again. The ride started out slowly but picked up speed as the usual guys were taking turns off the front. Hunter P on Mountain Rd, Steffen Huber and Hacker on Moss Farms, Little T onto Marion, etc. A couple of Andiamo riders were pushing off the front on Prospect, but Chris C, Ben Bruce and Dan Smith were keeping them in check. Once back onto West St, Chris C and Sean Cahill motioned to the riders behind to come thru and hit the front. Hunter P obliged, and rolled off into the intersections by I84 alone. He would not be seen for the rest of the night. The pack slowed for some cars, and then was too busy cursing at Hunter P. The chase got going but it was too late.

The ride ends in a group rare group sprint!
Little T stole the midway sprint from Hunter P. Hunter P got the mystery sprint at Bishops Farm after the climb on Route 70. Burggie drilled it in the final quarter and along with some demondownhilling from John Abate, a group of 4 was pushing off the front late in the game. The chase was too fast though and a group of spoilers caught the leaders with 1000 meters to go. From there, Burggie led out his teammates Ben Bruce and Hunter P, who took the sprint.

Tuesday the 14th
The Sernyak comes out swinging!!! He takes it straight down the throat
of the beast, going off the front right from the gun! The melancholy
from the pack was palpable. Fast forward all the way to the midpoint sprint and He manages to hold off a charging Ben Bruce to get the points. From there, it was all together. Little T takes the 35 mph+ fast finish!
Tuesday the 7th
Burggie finally gets some points for all his hard work!
He broke clear and stayed clear! He picked up Bishops Farms points, and then finish points. He had Gibertoni in tow but it was all Burgster today folks.
Impressive ride!

The Break Nearly Gets It Right
It was another agressive ride tonight, with Alan B attacking numerous times, Hunter P and Ryan O attacking steadily as well, and Henk along with Chris C playing the opportuntiststo the action off the front.
The biggest break of the day started when Hunter P and Ben Bruce bridged up to Alan B and Henk shortly after the false flat on Mount Vernon. That group of 4 got to work and built up enough of a gap to get thru the midpoint sprint all alone. Hunter P took it over Ben Bruce and Alan B. The group stayed together for the long ride back into Cheshire and may have stuck it the entire way, but the light fro crossing route 10 was red for the break, green for the chase.
Even so, Alan stayed on it up front and he had Ryan O and Big Red up there to assist. There was a small gap but it was all together by the climb on Route 70, Meriden Road. Little T took off the front with a strong pull and was soon joined by Alan B, Chris C, and Special Ed. That group was rounded up by Ben Bruce and Big Red, just in time for Hunter P to take the Hickory Hill Sprint Point (no points tho cause not enough people know about it yet).
From there, Kudos to Tom Krol for chasing down a couple of attacks by Alan B, as the ride went south thru Cheshire's East Side. Alan tried a couple more times off the front, as well as the Senryak. Ben Bruce had a chance at a long lead out but it was too long, and Little T came thru with autority to get the sprint points at the curve on Tuttle Ave.
Great ride everyone!

The Burgster's Rule of Terror Continues!
The ride storms back with a vengeance after a rained-out week. Everyone was happy to be back on course with the excellent weather.
Once the ride got into the back roads of Cheshire, the Ryan O' & Alan B show continued, as has been the norm for this year. This week it was Co-starring Mike Grome and Chris C. These guys kept the pace crisp heading towards the light on Route 68. During this time, there were no attacks. Alan B tried a couple of times to surge off the front, but the main attacks were being saved for later on. The whole group got the green light going through Route 68, which led to Hacker and Hunter P surging off the front on Moss Farms. That got the attention of all and the pace quickened from there.
Later on Moss Farms, the Cheshire Squad was doing its best to control the pace and attack off the front. Ben Bruce, Ryan O, Dana R, and Dillon P, all chipping in and getting in attacks along with Alan B and Hunter P.
Alan B had a strong attack through the chicane and up the hill to Marion Avenue. He pulled off a gap there along with Big Red. Those two had a little bit of a gap, but it all was brought back together by the light on Route 322. Little T had a mechanical issue plus the road after 322 was chip-sealed so the ride went to neutral mode for the trip down and on to Mount Vernon. Once it got going again, Alan B took off the front once again. That was short-lived though, and for the most part, the ride was altogether heading down Mount Vernon. Heading towards the corner for Welch Road, Alan B search hard off the front along with Ryan O'Hara and Hunter P. Also along for the ride was Hacker, and Chris C. That led to lots of tiny gaps heading down Welch Road. There was enough firepower behind the attackers to sew everything up though.
Heading up the hill and to the corner for West Street, Chris C led things out with Hunter P behind. Then Alan B attacked hard with only Sean Cahill responding. Hunter P eventually closed the gap but then had to pause for a red light before the Sprint line. Everybody rolled through quickly, but Sean Cahill was the only one in a good spot to Sprint. He ends up taking the points there, with Nuemotion coming across the line a little ways behind. From there the ride regrouped, and there were no further attacks until Crossing back over Route 322. Making the new left-hand Corner towards Route 10, Brian Girard, Alan B and Big Red, were pushing a good pace up the risers there. The light on Route 10 was red though so it was all back together. On the other side of the intersection. Alan took off again this time taking nuemotion and Ryan O'Hara with him. Then Hacker bridged up. That group of four started to work on a gap heading down East Johnson Avenue. As everyone climbed the hill towards the corner for Cheshire Rd, Hunter P jumped across and through the leaders. That got everyone behind working hard, Sean Cahill, Ben Bruce and a couple of others chipping in to try and keep it together as the ride got close to the long gradual uphill of Route 70.
Once the ride got onto the climb on route 70 / Meriden Rd Alan B attacked with only Sean Cahill going with him. Those two looked like they would ride away, but behind Chris C, Hunter P, and Big Red were all working hard to keep the pace going at the front. For the most part it was all together up the climb and over it. Giving Little T a great shot at taking the Hickory Hill Sprint. From there the ride regrouped at the red light at 68 / 70. Past that the ride was standard stuff heading back into Hamden. For the finale, thanks for a fast lead out from Big Red and Ben Bruce, Little T takes the final sprint points on Tuttle.

Doc Throws the Long-Ball and Gets the Points!
Lot's of malaise on the way out this week. Hunter P and Alan B were missing from the group and everyone was taking the chance to get in a leisurely ride. The Sernyak read the tea leaves and broke clear straight away from the parking lot. He impressively kept the gap all the way to the sprint point and hung on, despite Ben Bruce chraging hard to the line. Gutsy!
Little gets the sprints points at the end again!

A Rare Change-Up Tonight
The pack was feeling adventurous today. Led by Chris C's call to avoid route 10 on the way home, the consensus was to adjust the route back after crossing over 322 heading south.
As the ride took off, a now weekly trend kept up. Alan B took off early on. Hunter P then turbo'd up through a small gap to catch him. Kyle C took after him and soon enough the 3 were together. This despite Alan's efforts to get them killed by cutting off traffic turning onto Mount Sanford Rd. The umpire reached for the red card but then grabbed the yellow one instead after both Hunter P and Kyle waved apologies to the cars.
Those 3 stayed on the gas and were able to stay away all the way to the red light on route 68\70.
After the light, Alan B stayed on it and had The one and only French Casey along for company briefly onto Moss Farms. French Casey would end up getting hit with a flat tire. There was milling going on at the Chicane, and that slowed things down for everyone. After that, Alan would roll off the front with Shawn McCann for a bit but that was short-lived. Hunter P then attacked and Alan tracked him down to make it 2 charging toward route 322. The light was red and it was gruppo compacto as Rondo would say. Coming off the light, Alan rolled off the front again, and The Sernyak went with him right away. Hunter P them jumped up at the next uphill and that made for 3 up the road. They got to work and the pack behind was not too eager to catch them at first. The pace in the peleton picked up once everyone was onto Mount Vernon but there the trio was too quick and the chase efforts not good enough. The gap was finally coming down once the 3 turned onto Welch. On the hill to the corner, the Sernyak bid adieu to the break and that's the way it would go on to end with Hunter P and Alan B putting a few minutes into everyone else by the time they stopped riding hard at the end of Tuttle Ave / Wentworths in Hamden. Behind in the pack. Guys were too apprenhensive about the different course and the climbs on the other side of Route 10 to push the pace and it ended up being a steady, albeit lame ride back.
Here is the loop that the ride did. Stay tuned about whether it will repeat next week.

The Speed Disparity Continues...
Alan Burgess continued his rough-housing of the ride and ended getting back solo. It all started coming up to the turnaround sprint. Turning onto Welch Rd, Alan was off the front with a narrow gap, but then Hacker jumped up and joined him. No other riders went, and those two kept on the gas and were able to work together well enough to stay off the front. Behind. Ben Bruce, the Full Nalini, and Rob Dux were working up at the front in case the two up front faulted. That didn't happen. Hacker jumped around Alan to collect the points but then sat up as the rest of the pack came up.
Alan stayed on it and was going for the home run ball after the sprint. Ben Bruce and Ryan O'hara chased hard and were about to connect in order to make it another Cheshire Cycle sweep but Henk and Max from CVC charged hard into the interchange area to get across the gap and sew up the chase. Alan caught a green light near the I84 interchange and kept on motoring along and was soon out of sight. He would end up taking all the rest of the marbles tonight. The peleton got caught behind a bunch of lights once again, and talk of changing up the loop to avoid route 10 started in earnest. We'll see if a viable alternate route actually comes to fruition.

The rain spares the SG ride this week
It was a smaller than usual group out tonight, but everyone was giddy over the fact that the rain held off. Soon into the ride, Alan sped off the front when everyone was still easing into the ride. Soon after, a trio of Chris C, The Full Nalini, and Little T jumped off in pursuit. Alan turned onto Mountain Rd with a 50-meter gap to the trio, which had a 50 meter gap of their own. Behind, the Cheshire guys were just getting started with protecting the front. Halfway down Mountain Rd, with the 3 chasers closing in on Alan, Hunter P jumped hard across the gap, and all 5 came together at the same time. The gap stayed there until the light on route 68, which was red.
Alan stayed on it once onto Moss Farms, and he was joined by Kyle C. Those 2 kept the gap going all the way past the chicane, where they were finally tracked down by Chris C, Little T, and a couple of others. The whole group rolled together for a little bit, but soon after Alan was back off the front racing towards the light on 322. He'd have Ben Bruce along for company this time, but the light was red.
Onto Mount Vernon and Alan was again off the front, helped to a gap by teammates who were not pulling thru the front very hard. He'd slowly get pulled back in a kilometer later, with Chris C, Rob Dux, Rustico and a couple of others chipping away at the gap. That let Joe K counter-attack before the false flat section. There was a hard headwind that slowed the chase down. A little while later Alan jumped across the gap. Again there was no organized chase behind them and the gap went up. Chris C put in a sturdy pull but when it was just CCR guys slowly pulling through, he tossed in his hat and the gap went up to a big 20 seconds by the corner of Welch.
From there the 2 leaders worked together to cement the gap ahead of the sprint point, though Joe would let Alan roll off solo to make sure he got the points. Behind, Little T and then Chris C made strong jumps towards the sprint point but each had 3 CCR guys following. Alan took the sprint and kept rolling. He made it through a light whereas the pack had to stop. Then another red light slowed the chase. When the ride was rolling and with Alan out of sight, everyone was back at it, attacking and countering, this time, with a tailwind.
Heading through Cheshire, Little T would jump off the front and then catch a light. The peleton stopped or slowed for EVERY light on route 10 except two.
Great ride everyone! You know what they say... You have to fight fire.... With fire.

The Angriest Ride in Connecticut.
Now with Bears!
More drama this week at the SG ride as the ride is starting to feel like an episode of General Hospital. Here are the highlights, and the accompanying darker moments.
Early on, Kyle C jumped off the front with A-A-Ron Black and Dillon P. Those 3 held a steady gap for a couple of minutes. As the trio approached the corner of Mount Sanford Rd, they breezed thru the intersection without much of a warning for the field, which was close enough to start to roll thru after the leaders. The problem was that a car was bearing down pretty quickly. This put Chris C squarely in the sights of a speeding bumper. Everyone jammed on the brakes, and there was no incident besides the ensuring swearing and top-of-the-lung yelling from Chris C. The intersection is par for the course for the SG ride, Chris' reaction was..... Special.
After a few seconds though, it was back to riding hard. From there, A-A-Ron Black was making his presence known with some strong pulls on the front. Aidan C, Mike Frisk, Burgster and Big Red as well. Hunter P jumped off the front as the ride got close to route 68 but the field was with him, and the light was green. That gave Burgster a chance to roll off a gap going onto Moss Farms. He stayed out front for a while, with Hacker, Chris C, Big Red, the Senryak, and a couple of others giving chase.
Heading onto Marion, Burgster would go again, and he held a gap for another good chunk of time before being reeled back in. As the ride stopped at the light on route 322, Jimmy C came up to Chris C and gave him some stern but friendly "advice." It was something about not yelling in the Bedding Plant Capital of CT, micro-dosing shrooms, Boston accents, and using sailer's language on what is clearly dry land. Chris C was having non-o-that. The 2 nearly got into fisticuffs, which anyone will tell you is hard to pull off when you're trying to clip in after a red light. It was another awkward moment for most in attendance. Hunter P and Burgster recognized the chance to capitalize and attacked right away, although the field was right there. Once onto Mount Vernon, Burgster kept on the offensive, and he was chased down primarily by Big Red.
From there, the ride went into cruise control mode. Going up the false flat section Quadzilla attacked, taking Hunter P with him. Those 2 tore off a gap quickly and held it for a few hundred meters until a big bear on the left side of the road scared Quad Z nearly out of his SPD's. The bear quickly scampered back in the woods on his side of the road, but it brought the breakaway to an end.
Heading to the turn onto Welch Rd, Burgster would take off again in search of the long ball. He didn't get too far until a strong group started pulling him back. Chris C, Aidan C, The Full Nalini, a new guy in a blue kit (?), Hacker, and a couple of others. Still, Burggie was content to push the pace, and he took a slight lead going thru the corner onto West St. Once the front 10 guys were through, Aidan C ramped up the speed just enough to close the gap. He had 4 or 5 guys on his wheel. The light before the sprint point was red though, with 2 cars stacked up. The front 5 guys went thru slowly, but the sprint was slowed down for sure because of it. Hunter P jumped out to get it ahead of Ben Bruce. Burgster kept going after the sprint, and he would soon be joined by Ben Bruce and Hunter P. That trio just made it through the light by the Target, and the field, right behind them, stopped. That was all those 3 needed. The chase would get held up briefly by one more light and the leaders would disappear into the evening light.
The Stop n Sprint point was neutralized as the leaders rolled through together, and the finish was null due to the road milling taking place 3\4's of a mile from the usual end at Shepard Ave.
Something of a forgettable ride folks. Unless of course, you have stock in the Cheshire Cycle Racing Team, which is working on a 2-week breakaway streak.
Gettin Rowdy on a Tuesday
The ride came flying out of the blocks with a distinctly different tone tonight. The Cheshire Cycle crew kept guys flying off the front all night, and it definitely was wearing on the more curmudgeonly dudes in the pack.
First off the front was Hunter P again. He stayed clear from the turn off Route 10 all the way to the first riser on Mountain Road. Then Burgster went clear along with Ryan O. Those 2 kept a gap going all the way down Mountain Rd. Hunter P took one last flyer before the light, but it was red.
On Moss Farms, Burgster was back at it. This time, Chris C, Cassie, and Billy Thomspon also jumped on. That group of four held a gap all the way in thru the chicane and onto Marion. The Sernyak was vital in the effort to drag them back into the fold. Little T tried to sneak across the gap before it was all sewn back up but it was to no avail. Most everyone felt the dynamic pace of the night and guys were all over the road.
Once over 322 the pace calmed down a little but soon after, Burgster, Ryan O, and Sernyak were at it again. Hunter P had another attack. Dillon P and Ravenberg also got involved with attacks off the front. Heading onto Welch, Dillon P, Burgster, Billy Thompson and a couple of others nursed a small gap. Chris C charged across it, taking along Hunter P, and then Hacker followed suit. At the base of the hill toward the corner, Little T got a substantial jump and ripped thru the intersection first. He next rode a super intense 60 seconds to hold off a charging Ryan O and Burgster to get the sprint points.
Ryan O kept on it and got thru one of the next lights. Behind, Hunter P squeezed thru the light as well, much to the disapproval of the guys behind. Sernyak was next in line and chose to stop. From there, Hunter P and Ryan O stayed on the gas, got another light in their favor before getting back into Cheshire and took it all the way back home for the breakaway points.
The race jury would go on to penalize Hunter P 5 points for blowing thru the red light.
Next week, it's put out or shut up week at the SG ride!

The Return of the Long Loop!
Oh thank goodness, the long loop is back. And there was a good sized field out to enjoy it! The pace was crisp right from the start. The Sernyak, Chris C, Kyle "Headbutt" Crowell, and Jeff Scala were up there pushing the pace. Jordan Lynn was back on the ride, and he tore off a substantial gap early on that Alan Had to chase down. It was game on!
As the ride barreled down Mountain Rd, Aidan C was up at the front quite a bit, pushing the pace. A new guy in a Ronde Rosey kit (name?) as well. Big Red had a couple of solid pulls and was floating back and forth on the front, making everyone nervous. Hunter P had a solid dig off the front with a few hundred meters before the light, but the timing was no beuno.
Onto Moss Farms, where Alan B, Chris C, and the new guy drilled it impressively early on. It took some robust chasing from Aidan C, Sernyak and a couple of others to bring it back. It def softened the legs up quite a bit all thru the pack. After the chicane, Chris C and Sernyak were drilling it on the front again, but there were plenty of bodies to keep it all together. Getting close to the light on 322, Hunter P once again attacked off the front, but the light was red.
The first trip down Mount Vernon was steady, but not crazy fast. All the aforementioned riders at one point or another were up to the front chipping in with the pace. Dave H made an appearance or 2 as well. Notably, he was moving up as the turn onto Welch Rd came up, but it was Aidan C and Kyle C who ended up rolling off the front. Hunter P bridged and then attacked but was caught by the corner of West St by Ben Bruce and Little T, the rest of the strong guys right there in tow. Ben Bruce stepped on the gas a bit, while Little T eased up to set up for the sprint. Into a strong headwind, Ben rolled the gap out enough to make it tough for the sprinters to catch him. Little T tried but came up short. Everyone rolled back down into Cheshire together.
Heading down Peck Ln, the Crowells were up front a lot. Henk and one other CVC rider as well (name?) Going over the old rail tracks on Sandbank Rd, Hunter P attacked and got a decent gap right away. The Sernyak and Alan B gave chase and caught him shortly after the corner for route 10. That was enough to get the rest of the field into chase mode for reals. The lead trio held the gap past the hill, but it all came back together shortly after. That led to Aidan rolling off the front with Kyle C joining him soon after. Those 2 had a good gap heading into the sprint hill. Kyle dropped back just as Ben Bruce was winding up a lead-out from the pack behind. Hunter P sat on his wheel and was able to get an early jump on other sprinters, passing Aidan C midway up the hill.
From there, the ride back into Hamden was standard stuff.

Slowly getting up to speed... Week 2
Larger crowds were out tonight but it was still a bit lower than usual. Good to see regulars like Nuemotion, Joe K, M Frisk, The Full Nalini and Ben Bruce out for the first time. The ride got going under more controlled circumstance this week, but as soon as everyone turned off route 10, Hunter P took off and made it farther than his usual 30 seconds. He got all the way to mid-way through Mountain Rd before being caught. Aidan C, Chris C, Big Red, and BurggieBaby were the ones doing the most work up front.
From there the ride stayed together thru Moss Farms and into the industrial Park. Dave Hoyle got involved up front, as well as Mike McG, Joe K, Ben Bruce a couple of others. Hunter P jumped off the front again before the turn for West Johnson, but no one went with and he slowly rolled back as Aidan C ramped it up behind him. Aidan chose not to keep the attack going full gas to the sprint, and that gave Nuemotion, Chris C, The Sernyak, Burgster and maybe one or 2 others the chance to slide up and get into position. Bugster once again jumped off te front soon after turning onto Reinhard, but this time, his had less time to build up a gap. Mike McG was a little ways back and gave Little T a great lead-out to the sprint, and Little T had little trouble jumping around and into the front to get to the corner first.
On the backside, A Burg, Hunter P, and Aidan C were off the front going down hill, but traffic in the corner for Peck Ln slowed the whole bunch down and forced the re-grouping.
From there, it was quick back to Route 10, Aidan C and Hunter P primarily responsible for driving the pace. A small group of 4 rolled thru the corner first and was holding a slim gap going up the hill by Cheshire Park, but it was all back together after the hill, as Ben Bruce, The Full Nalini, Dave Hoyle a couple of others kept the pace high enough in the chase to keep the gap manageable.
Heading into the Stop n Sprint, Billy Thompson jumped off the front with about 400 meters to go. He built up a gap but was starting to fade as Hunter P jumped hard from the front of the group. No one challenged that, and Hunter P was able to cruise to the sprint points there. A traffic light slowed the pack down immediately after that, and then a little ways down into Cheshire, another light held up the peleton. That was all Hunter P needed to get away for good, and he rolled back into Hamden alone, ending the ride with about 35 seconds on the chase.

Season Kick-Off is a Kick in Da Nutz for Most
After a couple of weeks of crap weather, the SG finally got some dry roads and only slightly bitter temps. So the first throwdown of the year was a bit on the sparse side. Fresh off a block of training, the CCNS contingent was looking fierce. A couple of guys not waiting to get caught out by it were both the Crowells and Little T. They took off right away out of the parking lot and were quickly out of sight down route 10. They kept the hammer down as a trio. Behind in the pack, once the ride got off route 10, Aidan C was straight away at the front setting a hard tempo. BurggieBaby was there for back up, and a couple of pulls and it was a fast intro but everyone was ok with hanging on. Big Red came thru and took a flyer on Mount Sanford and got a minimal gap, Hunter P jumped across it next and took along Burgster, Aidan C, and Rob Dux. A couple of guys were caught in the middle as everyone was going thru the corner for South Brooksvale. Steffen Huber and Tom Krol among them. They chose to hold up a bit and slotted in at the front of the chase. The four guys up the road were off and running though, and the slight hold up due to traffic was more than enough to give them the gap needed.
That group caught the early trio a couple of streets after, and then Rob Dux was caught out and had to fall back. From there it was a seven man ride up front, 12-15 guys rolling a solid tempo in the back.
For the sprint points, Burgie took off at the corner for Reinhard and held a gap. Hunter P sprinted up from the chase and was made the gap up but Alan rolls through the intersection first. The gap those two had didn't amount to much once everyone turned on to Peck. Aidan C drilled hard up the slight hill on Peck and made it hard for anyone to come around him. Hunter P put in a dig but was back in the fold by the corner for route 10.
The lead into Stop n Sprint was anything but gang-busters, Grome put in an effort and Burgster was up there as well. Kyle Crowell jumped hard and was allowed to collect the prize. From there, it was a standard run-in back to Hamden and Little T came up and got the final points on the night, relatively unchallenged, save for Big Red, who is never one to take it easy on himself.
Great ride everyone! A solid open to the 2018 season of madness!
