A running account of the "race without an entry fee"..... The Tuesday night ride

Tuesday the 21st

Double the Rage tonight... Double the fun...

Good to see Robyn back on the ride after her crash last week. Here we go! Hunter P and Dillon P put in two monster pulls and had everyone on the rivet!!!! Oh thats right were in the real world this week I forgot. The ride started out low key, rt10 was taken at 20mph or so. As we turned off onto the back roads Eric , LT and Crowell were doing most of the work. With a strong tailwind the speed was high and nothing was going up the rode. It was good to see Brain Spiotti out he was on the front for a spell. At rt42 Eric , Koski and Crowell got a gap but Guido brought it back before the turn onto the climb. The pace was high on the road to the light at the rt68. Going toward the chicane the work on the front was pretty much stats quo with MCG and Petey thrown in the mix now. The ride was all strung out as we hit the hill after the chicane at the top a CCR rider attacked (Joe K?) but MCG brought him back and took a long pull into the industrial park.

Once into the park the pace was a steady 30+ all the way! Gotta love that tailwind. When we got out of the park the pace settled in with the crosswind from the right. As the ride approached the first sprint of the day. Eric and MCG set up LT for a easy win at the top. The next guy was 100 meters behind! Eric got tailed off from his long pull so I sat off the back to help him back. Thats when I saw group of 5 OTB with Bengay leading the charge back up, they didn't make it. Round 12 to Mahoney I guess its a TKO. The false flat after the green house was taken at tempo due to the dug up road. When the ride hit rt10 the pace was tame with the wind dead in the face.

At the S&S sprint Guido took the title of king of the hill. Down 10 we got every light so the ride was pretty uneventful until the finish. Guido showing some late season form took the prize once again. It was almost dark at the finish so I think this was the last 6:00 pm ride so 5:30 next week.

Good job Professor Rondo. And 5:30 is like a safer time to start next week. Another local Professor from an obscure community college, Jacob Hacker, a fixture in the TWC 'race', grades Health Care Reform in NY Times op-ed:

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2010/09/23/opinion/20100923_opart.html?scp=3&sq=hacker&st=cse

I think "B" is a fair grade, but I know I am way out-numbered by all the young right-wingers in the local peloton.

Answer to Jacob and his cronies

You spend your life on welfare lines
Or looking for handouts
Why don't you go find a job
You birth more kids to up your checks
So you can buy more drugs
Cash in food stamps and get drunk

[Chorus:]
Uncle Sam takes half my pay
So you can live for free
I got a family and bills to pay
No one hands money to me
You can go to school for nothing
Got that government grant
Get money in advance
When you're sick from shooting up
Medicaid pays full portion
When little Maria gets knocked up
She gets a free abortion

Claim they don't have enough
I say make them clean the sewers
Don't take no resistance
If they don't like it go to hell
And cut their public assistan

Both the band and whomever posted that last comments are not worthy of a response but you'll get one anyway: You're an ignorant fuck. Try reading rather than listening to Glenn Back. It might even improve your riding, too.

I'm with you Ben, I take back all that I've said about you in the past

Rondo said...

Well Ben I think you need to start reading a lot if it will improve your riding. I suggest WAR & PEACE for you.

Allowing people to buy health insurance after they get sick is a good idea. They should do the same for auto insurance and let you buy it after you have an accident. People can save a lot of money that way and only buy it when they need it.

Ben aren’t you a single, unemployed student? I used to have simple idealistic views like everyone should be entitled to everything because this is America. Then I grew up, had two kids, got a real job, started paying ALOT of taxes and witnessed more and more abuses of power and the system. I am now a proud conservative who strongly believes you get out of this life what you put into it. No one is entitled to anything! You will eventually become a conservative as well, once you have experienced real life for a while.

By the way, no more politics, this is a cycling blog.

Chris,

Thanks for wondering --incorrectly I might add -- about my private life. However, I'm not that young, and have worked most of my life beginning at 13. That said I've done enough "living" to "realize" that the rich do not pay taxes and are subsidized by the poor. The same goes for nations: the poor ones subsidize the wealthier via debt servicing. Mistakenly, you conflate your interests with that of the wealthy when in reality they are very incongruent. What do you benefit from having an uneducated, imprisoned, unemployed, unhealthy and at war populous? Of your hard earned taxes, very little goes into the social services system –those services that are left, that is – compared to those that go toward the military and other corporate welfare. In turn, such tax give-aways do not result in job investment and higher living standards but financial speculation, debt deleveraging (on to the public) and outsourcing. The poor and people of color have not affected you in any way, nor have “liberal” social polices (many social services were created by Nixon, btw). It is the polity of economic conservatism –which is anything but conservative –that has harmed you. Common refrains in the deregulated, privatized media bubble would have you believe otherwise and perhaps, rather than a card-carrying communist you’re leaning toward being a Palanite Teabagger? After all, the banks were bailed out by both parties, people by neither. Don’t discount the power of Lippmannian propaganda. When Bishop Hélder Câmara could ask, "When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a communist.” and receive such a misguided answer, it is not just the so-called middle-class that have been duped but the poor, too. If not we’d see movements like the hosing and unemployed movements of the 1930’s (a period before Walter Lippmann by the way). And perhaps if the neoliberal/conservative ideology continues unabated we will.

See ya on the next ride. Pinko Ben.

Ben..what do you mean the rich do not pay taxes.? Get your facts straight.

Anonymous said...

the rich pay capital gains which, compared to what we pay, is nothing.

Anonymous said...

OK but Ben doesn't have a job so what does he pay? Why should he get anything but a kick in the ass. Who pays for all his student loans that he will never pay back. The poor? The middle class? The rich?

Ben said...

I pay taxes and my student loans you asshole! And in many countries that have a smarter general population than we do education is paid for via taxes.

Anonymous said...

Ben,
I stopped reading after "the rich do not pay taxes". Go spread your lies on the Huffington Post where people will actually read them.

Bengay stop copying and pasting and ride your bike. Your welfare check will be in the mail don't worry.

Ben said...

Here's a copy-paste:

Did you know that the words "race car" spelled backwards still spell race car?

And if you rearrange the letters in "Tea Party Republicans", and add just a few more letters, it spells: "Shut-up, you free-loading,progress-blocking, benefit-grabbing, homophobic, resource-sucking,racist, hypocritical jerks, and face the fact that you nearly capsized the country under Bush." How weird is that.

Have to say...Ben makes more sense with that single post than Ron has made in years of blogging. Crowel is the definition of kneejerk.

Anonymous said...

The only thing that makes sense to Crowell is the menu at the McDonald's drive through window.

Anonymous said...

Makes sense if you are a unemployed uninsured go nowhere looking for working people to pay your way.

Ben said...

Say that shit to my face anon.

Anonymous said...

Ben why dont you use your education to get a job? Come on you dont even work and havnt for a long time. Your not in school either, so what the fuck?

Ben said...

Since you're all so curious, I'll tell you. I'm what's known as independently "well off." That's why I always have new gear. Since you're all such ardent defenders of the rich you won't mind this and can go fuck yourselves.

Enjoy your Sunday rides and penitence social security checks that we rich don't have to pay in to.

So then why do you owe people money then? Pay up dick. Also buy a new car the one you have is a piece of shit
