Wind wreaks havoc with everyone’s balls

A big ol wind from the north slowed the first version of the beloved Long Loop tonight. The ride was slow from the get go. 3 riders took off from the parking lot early, probably in an attempt to pass innocently by the cops that were going to be waiting for us in Southington…. Oh wait…..

Anyway the riders up the road proved to confuse and pussify the rest of the pack. Few were willing to really put give the ol college try. Nothing worth reporting, besides the swollen vag’s on display.

Mike McG gets points for getting the Stop n Sprint point, as he cleared Ben Bruce with room to spare. Both riders coming off a fast leadout from Burgster.

Hopefully the ride is more decent next week!

Tuesday the 5th

More tough conditions at the SG ride

   Turnout was low for the ride tonight. Temps in the upper 30’s and strong winds kept a lot of guys home. The pace slowly churned upward behind Chris and Kyle Crowell. Ben Bruce, Gibertoni, Alan B and a couple of others were up there as well, rotating thru and keeping the speed respectable.
   As the ride got closer to Mountain Rd, Markowicz and Dave Hoyle chipped in as well. Halfway down Mountain, Markowitz took off with Grome and Alan B. That was slowly reeled in by Mike McG and Chris C, among others. Hunter P took a dig towards the end of mountain, along with Grome, but the light was red.
    Joe K stormed off the front on Moss Farms and was allowed to roll up a gap that he hung onto until after the corner onto Marion. We’re wishing Joe the best as he takes on the Sandy Hook Ride on Washington this weekend! The pace was a little low key into the industrial park but the CCAP guys ramped it up once onto West Johnson Ave. That keep the speed high going up to Reinhard. Mike McG jumped off the front 50 meters before the corner and the only rider to respond shortly after was Alan B. Alan closed down the gap once onto the sprint hill and he kept it going all the way to the top. Behind, Ben Bruce was winding it up but a little too late to have any chance of tracking down BurggieBaby.
    On the backside, Hunter P joined up and that made 2 off the front into a strong head wind. Traffic turning onto Peck Ln gave all 12 or so remaining riders a chance to regroup. Up the false flat roared Markowitz, taking along Chris C and Kyle. No gap allowed there as Grome, Alan B, Jason Williams and a couple of others. It was all together from there, safely onto Route 10. Grome got the corner first and hit the jets up the hill. He was quickly away and held onto a respectable gap as the pack slowly got going again. Frieght Train Markowitz was again at the front of the charge and would be the one to eventually narrow the gap with about 200 meters to the sprint. From there it was Ben Bruce, narrowly holding off 2 or 3 riders to get to the top first.
   No surprises heading back into Hamden. Cassie Max put in a late flyer which spring boarded Dave H, Alan B, Grome, Mike McG, and Gibertoni. It came down to a 2 horse race with Mike McG hanging on a hair longer than Gibertoni to get to the intersection first.
    Good ride all things considered. It will warmer next week! Promise!

Tuesday the 29th

The Windy Return of Ben Bruce

   The ride showed no signs up letting up tonight. Yale came correct with a couple more loaded guns. Ben “the slackest of em all” Bruce was back out and ready to go with his mismatched Cheshire teammates.
    Right away off route 10 everyone was fighting into the head wind. Cross winds were pushing folks around and Hunter P and Mike McG would use it to drive out a couple of gaps before the ride hit mountain road. Chris C and Kyle were up in the front as well, keeping the pace high. After the dust settled from a couple of early attacks, Markowitz jumped out in front and Landry went with him. Those 2 held onto a respectable gap for the majority of route 10. Then Ben Bruce and Alan B took off on Moss Farms but that was corralled quickly. The headwind allowed another group to go clear when Hunter P punched it again with Mike McG. That led to a group of about 5 up the road and fighting for space but the pack would claw back thanks to the Yalies and Markowicz. The duo of Landry and Markowicz was back at it again in the industrial park but the tail wind erased most gaps quickly.
    Heading into the turnaround section it was Chris C leading the early charge, which morphed into a dangerous trip of Alan B, Ben Bruce and Markowicz off the front working a 50 meter gap thru the corner for Reinhard. Markowicz stayed on the throttle with Ben Bruce sitting tight. He was able ot jump out and around to get the sprint ahead of a late charge from Mike McG. The headwind brought it all back together on the descent. Markowicz would keep on it through Peck Lane but it was once again Alan B and Ben Bruce getting a bit of a gap. Once through the false flat, Markowicz was done with that and he tore across the gap with Hunter P and Cassie Max in tow. That led to Gibertoni and Hunter P striking out before the corner for route 10. Everyone slowed down a fair bit in the name of safety but Hunter P was thru alone and charging up the hill, aided by the tailwind. He nearly made it all the way to the Stop n Shop sprint but Markowicz once again was tear a swath thru the concrete. He led a strong select group up and thru the front. From there, Landry popped out and took the sprint point.
     No huge surprises going back thru town. The tailwind made it easy as pie. For the finale, it was Markowicz once again charging off, this time with Ben Bruce. Ben was allowed to roll thru the line in front for the final prize of the night.

Tuesday the 15th, 2016

IT'S THE SLEEPING GIANT RIDE PUT ON YOUR PAJAMAS!
Aaaaaaaand we're off! Crowds were on the thin side but it didn't keep the pace from being blisteringly fast for March 15th. The CCAP trio made sure to keep the speed up there, as well as the 2 Crowells and the ever stronger Yale duo of Big Red and Landry.

By Moss Farms, there was an A group and then a B group that threw in the towel. 


From the front fast group, 3 riders, Dave Hoyle, Hunter P and Alan took off to get the mid point sprint. Dave led it out with Hunter P coming around to get the first prize of the year.




Later on, it was pretty much that same group + Chris C blasting towards the Stop n Shop sprint point. This time Mike McG was close by and rocketed off with the tail wind to get prize #2. Everyone rolled in fast and together for the finale.
