A running account of the "race without an entry fee"..... The Tuesday night ride

Tuesday the 18th

The rain hit hard today. Despite some big talk from some about riding in the rain, the only guys who were out were Chris B, Dillon P, Chris Mahoney, Hunter P, and Matt ( I’m back from my internship with the Dharma Initiative ) Sack. Guido was a minute too late to the parking lot and had to chase the ride down, eventually meeting up on West Johnson Ave.

Everyone rode hard and it was a good ride. Chris lead-pedal Butler was going hard on his 25 pound rain bike and Chris techno Mahoney was making sure his new PowerTap was registering watts in the many hundreds. Matt Sack will be a strong rider during the TWC for the summer months.

I left work at 5PM dressed and had every intension of riding. Driving up RT-68, it started pouring. I called Ron and Eric and they both said that they were not riding. I figured that I would be the only one in the parking lot so I stayed home and rode the trainer.

Kudos to those of you who showed up.

Hunter I hope your not talking about me. It was Robyn emailing you that I was going. I know you do what your boyfriend tells you to do but Robyn is Robyn and I'm me.

I drove all the way down from Central Mass to join in on the fun. I got caught in the traffic on 91 and must've pulled up a few minutes after Guido pulled out.

Seriously, you guys have a great blog, you were the ones who gave me the idea to create a ride blog for our tuesday night B ride out of Gear Works Cyclery in Leominster Ma.
Bicycling Magazine is interested in ride blogs, you should contact them and nominate your's!
Hopefully I can get down there to join in on the fun once I gain a little more power and fitness.
Keep up the good work!

our blog has way better nicknames dude.

I agree, after 5 years of doing this ride we should have better nick names....
I like your's, "anonymous", I might borrow it.
You also have a better writer, I wish I could follow who's doing what on the ride, but once the speed picks up my brain tends to shut down and I loose track of who's doing what, when and where.

Our ride is snobbier than yours.

( PS, dont come back to CT )

Wow - Where getting riders to commute down from Mass to do our ride? For what; just to get yelled at from Angry Ron??

Believe it or not, your ride is notorious, not only for it's speed, but for it's snobishness.

I've been yelled at by many a rider for every cycling transgression you can come up with. The only one that hurts is getting yelled at for not holding the wheel in front of me.
see ya'll this summer when all the fast guys are vacationing in the Hamptons - snobs!

It all reality, the ride is not very snobbish. How can it be when 50+ guys show up. What looks and feels like snobbery is just your legs coughing up embarrassment that they cant contribute to the pace.

That said, hope to see you back down here later in the year. We ride from Cheshire Cycle at 5:30 to get to the park in time.

Who cares about this other ride!? Who won the sprints Tuesday is all that matters !

anonymous is right, why should you care about our B ride? It not the SG ride by any stretch.
My original intent was to point out the fact that you've got a great ride report and you should bring it to the attention of Bicycling Magazine in case they want to feature it. Yeah I know it's not Velonews, but you might as well draw some attention to your ride.
And it's all about the green jersey and KOM points -
Hopefully we'll see some of you guys in Fitchburg in a few weeks!
Stop by Gear Works if you're in the need for supplies!

Long loop this week or what?

YES - It is most definitely time for the long loop. The dug up portion of MT Vernon Road has been repaired as well.
